About

Steven Zunker is a composer, singer/songwriter, and frontman for The Vaticans, an Indie Rock/Americana band. He started his career composing music for TV and film by doing commercial and short film work, but has since graduated to doing feature films.

Zunker's first feature film score was for the film Couch Survivor, a comedy that is currently in the distribution phase. The score, matching the mood of the film, ranges from silly to emotional as Zunker elected to use a traditional mix of guitar, drums, bass, and piano, with bells and accordion giving an eclectic and playful tone to the pieces.

The next feature film on Zunker's resume is Out of Ashes, a drama set in Arkansas, U.S.A. The film's subject matter consists of a tragic journey shared by two people;  One has lost his family, and the other has just escaped an abusive relationship. Zunker's use of piano, accompanied by a sparse chamber arrangement of violins, cello, and violas underscores the film's melancholic portrayal of tragic loss.

The latest feature film work for Zunker was that of Cafe Con Leche, an action film that takes place in Mexico City. The film tackles the dark underbelly of human trafficking, and follows the struggle of a District Attorney and a D.E.A. Agent as they try to shut down a human smuggling ring. The score is a mix of more modern sounds, synths, and drums to accompany the high energy and pace of the film.
